I. College introduction
The Science and Education Integration College of Energy and Carbon Neutralization is a new-type college jointly established by Zhejiang University of Technology and Baima Lake Laboratory (Zhejiang Laboratory of Energy and Carbon Neutralization) to integrate talent cultivation, technological innovation, achievement transformation and industry incubation, gathering multiple forces like domestic and overseas famous schools and leading enterprises in the industry. Professor Gao Xiang, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the president of Zhejiang University of Technology, and the director of Baima Lake Laboratory, acts as the dean of the college. It is selected as the pilot reform project of “education, technology and talent integration” of Zhejiang Province.
The college is committed to building a highland of innovative talent cultivation, a highland of high-end talent agglomeration, a highland of energy technology innovation and a highland of achievement transfer & transformation. It has established a talent training system of “undergraduates – masters – doctors – post-doctors”, built platforms like the provincial key laboratory for clean energy conversion and utilization, and gathered a batch of well-known experts, scholars and outstanding young people at home and abroad, including more than 20 leading talents such as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, provincial special experts, specially-appointed professors of Chang Jiang, outstanding youths, and “four kinds of youths” of the nation. Meanwhile, the college has established a comprehensive strategic cooperation relation with domestic and overseas famous schools including Zhejiang University, Southern University of Science and Technology and University of Oxford as well as leading enterprises in the energy industry such as China Energy Engineering Corporation, China Ocean Engineering Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group.
Centering on the “double-carbon” strategic target and aiming at the energy technology development frontier around the world, the college focuses on the following research directions:
1. Clean energy conversion and storage: Efficient conversion and utilization of solar energy, deep-sea wind power, large-scale industrial energy storage technology, all-solid-state battery, hybrid energy storage system, etc.;
2. Preparation and utilization of green fuel: High-efficiency and low-energy carbon capture, efficient preparation of hydro-amine alcohol, preparation of green aviation fuel, application of green fuel, etc.;
3. Cyclic utilization of resources and carbon accounting: Solid waste recovery and recycling of new energy, high value utilization of biomass thermochemistry, carbon footprint and carbon labelling, etc.;
4. Comprehensive energy system: Intelligent regulation of multi-energy complementation system, zero-carbon park, integrated application technology of comprehensive energy system, etc.;
5. Energy and sustainable development: Beautiful China, green-oriented transition of energy, strategic research of new quality productivity, green transformation paths of industry, etc.
II. Team leaders
As the president of Zhejiang University of Technology, the director of Baima Lake Laboratory, the dean of Carbon Neutralization Institute of Zhejiang University, and the dean of Science and Education Integration College of Energy and Carbon Neutralization of Zhejiang University of Technology, Gao Xiang has dedicated himself to the basic theory, key technology and engineering application research of energy and environment fields for a long time. He has won the first prize of the State Technological Invention Award for one time, the second prize of the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology for one time, the second prize of the State Technological Invention Award for one time, and the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award for two times. Moreover, he has also gained the Science and Technology Innovation Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, the National Innovation Award, and the National May 1st Labor Medal.
III. Job demands
(I) Professional requirements
Doctoral degree of high-level academies at home and abroad; majoring in related disciplines including energy, environment, materials, chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, control, electrical engineering, computer, and management.
(II) Job requirements
1. Position for leading young talents
People holding a formal position in domestic and overseas famous schools, scientific research institutions or world-class enterprises; having the experience of overseas studying (working) for more than 5 years; obtaining prominent innovative academic achievements in the field.
2. Position for backbone young talents
Outstanding young scholars obtaining excellent innovative academic achievements in the energy and carbon neutralization fields and having obvious development potentials can take up the post of “Zhaohui distinguished researchers” after passing the review of the school.
(1) Position of “canal young scholars”: Outstanding young people below 35 years old having the work experience of overseas scientific research for more than one year; owning the professional and technical post qualification of deputy senior (overseas assistant professor) and above; obtaining the innovative products recognized by domestic and overseas peers in the field; having the potential of undertaking the national talent projects.
(2) Position of “Zhaohui distinguished researchers”: Outstanding young people making achievements recognized by domestic and overseas peers in scientific research; gaining some academic accumulations in the field; having the ability to make breakthroughs at a higher academic level. The applicant should be below 35 years old; have the experience of studying and working in overseas high-level universities or research institutions for more than one year; own the professional and technical post qualification of deputy senior (overseas assistant professor) and above; reach the qualification requirements for professors in the scientific research performance during recent five years; or obtain outstanding academic performance and landmark accomplishments.
(3) Position of “Zhaohui distinguished associate researchers”: Outstanding young people making achievements recognized by domestic and overseas peers in scientific research, and having the ability to make breakthroughs at a higher academic level. The applicant should be below 35 years old; have the experience of studying and working in overseas famous universities or research institutions for more than one year; reach the qualification requirements for associate professors in the scientific research performance during recent five years; or obtain outstanding academic performance and landmark accomplishments.
3. Position for outstanding young teachers
Outstanding young people below 35 years old obtaining good scientific research and academic achievements in the field, and meeting the conditions of the school to introduce full-time teachers or full-time researchers.
4. Post-doctoral researchers
The applicant should be below 35 years old, have the doctoral degree, own solid theoretical foundation and professional knowledge in the field, and have excellent scientific research abilities.
IV. Remunerations
According to the policy, Zhejiang University of Technology and Baima Lake Laboratory should jointly provide platform supports, fund guarantees and salaries for the development of high-level personnel, as shown in the following:
1. Salary: The school should provide competitive salaries.
2. Support for scientific research: They should provide start-up funds for scientific research, and help the personnel participate in international academic conferences, short-term academic exchanges and cooperative studies, and apply for various fund programs by relying on the college.
3. Housing security: They should pay purchase and relocation fees according to the school policy, and provide temporary housings and rental housings for talents according to the policy.
4. Children’s education: The teachers’ children can be admitted to the Kindergarten of Zhejiang University of Technology (Grade-A kindergarten), and enter the public school of Hangzhou City at the stage of compulsory education.
5. Family support: The school should help with the mate’s employment, the children’s enrollment, the talent residence permit and the settlement according to related policies of the state, province and city.

Baima Lake Laboratory (Zhejiang Laboratory of Energy and Carbon Neutralization) is a new-type research institute jointly established by Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group Company Ltd. and the university after gaining approval from Zhejiang Provincial Government. Its headquarter base is located beside Baima Lake in Hangzhou High-tech Zone (Binjiang).
